Scalp Micropigmentation is the implantation of specifically developed pigment into the scalp. We implant microscopic dots that will simulate hair follicles and give the illusion of a shaved head. This is what we call the Shaved Effect. The shaved effect is one of the most popular treatments and suitable for most clients. But when is it recommended or necessary to choose this specific technique? In this blogpost we will explain the ins and outs of this specific technique. In order to achieve a result that looks as natural as possible it is essential that we choose the right technique for each client. So when can we suggest a shaved look instead of a densification?

When hair coverage is limited, the most popular option is the Shaved Look. In order to get the best results we advise the client to shave the hair to a maximum length of 1mm. SMP simulates the effect of hair growth, creating an optical effect similar to hair between 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm in length. If the client’s hair surrounding the treated area exceeds these measures it will look different to the natural hair and the desired result will not be achieved.
